New WordPress Plugin Will Allow Posting Content On The Ethereum Blockchain

Amsterdam-based startup WordProof has unveiled an extension for the content management system of WordPress websites that allows you to create timestamps for published content on the Ethereum blockchain, writes The Block.

WordProof says its solution will help protect copyrights, increase transparency when creating content, and track changes to it. Website owners do not need blockchain interaction skills to use the service.

Timestamps allow you to create "unique and universal fingerprints" or hashes for all posts, pages and media content. If the content is changed in any way, the hash will change too. It is added to the Ethereum blockchain with a time stamp so that the user can confirm the fact of publication at a certain moment.

WordProof earlier in this year received a € 1 million grant from the European Commission, winning the Blockchains for the Good of Society competition and beating 175 other teams.

This is not the first attempt to combine cryptocurrency and WordPress technologies. In April, Draper Goren Holm introduced the first WordPress extension with decentralized exchange functionality. It allows you to add a service to sites with which visitors can exchange cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.
