The Ethereum Foundation Launches A Resource To Learn About Future Validator Staking
The Ethereum Foundation, in collaboration with ConsenSys companies, launches «launch pad for validators» based on the Medalla test network. The initiative aims to prepare future validators for staking in Ethereum 2.0.
«The launch of the Medalla test network is approaching. This is the next major step towards phase zero. Prepare your ETH on the testnet. The launch pad will simplify the process of gaining validator status and staking in the signal chain», – stated by ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin.
After the launch of Ethereum 2.0, validators will need to deposit 32 ETH in order to stake. Like other networks based on the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, users will be able to delegate their assets in favor of a third-party pool if they do not have the required amount.
Potential validators on the Ethereum 2.0 Launchpad are encouraged to go through 10 steps to familiarize themselves with the basics of staking. Among other things, the Ethereum Foundation warns that validators, to be convicted of malicious acts, suffer large losses in the form of a fine.
The site also displays the volume of test ETH contributed by users. According to the established rules, in order to launch Medalla, at least 16 384 validators who will contribute 524,288 ETH. To date, 218 656 ETH has been credited to the deposit address. Medalla is scheduled to launch on August 4th.
